The arrival and the founding of a legend.

Bautista Gerónimo Gargantini, originally from the Swiss canton of Ticino, arrives in Argentina. His visionary spirit leads him to partner with Juan Giol to establish the most important winery of the time: “La Colina de Oro” (today Bodega Giol), which quickly became a landmark in the national wine industry.

Bodegas y Viñedos Gargantini is born.

Before returning to Switzerland, Bautista Gerónimo Gargantini Sr. entrusts his son, Bautista Gargantini, with founding “Bodegas y Viñedos Gargantini” in Rivadavia. This estate was a pioneer in its strong social commitment, including a maternity ward, school, and sports center for its employees.

1913
Fundadores

A legacy in sports and politics.

Bautista Gargantini (son) left an indelible mark on the region. In 1913, he founded “Club Sportivo Independiente Rivadavia.” Beyond his passion for sports, he devoted his life to public service, serving as City Councilor, Mayor of Rivadavia, and eventually as Vice Governor of the Province of Mendoza in 1924.

1987
Fundadores

The return to Chacras de Coria.

The winery once owned by the family in Chacras de Coria, which had been sold years earlier, is recovered. Silvia Gargantini, granddaughter of the founder, and her husband Alejandro Genoud, take on the commitment to revive this historic heritage.

The birth of Clos de Chacras Winery.

Silvia Gargantini and Alejandro Genoud begin an extensive restoration and revitalization of the historic estate. This family effort culminates in its transformation into the present-day Clos de Chacras Winery, connecting more than a century of tradition with a contemporary vision.
